Music Reflection - 30 January 2012

Today, we were introduced on the next assignment that we are going to do. The assignment will involve in romantic music. First, we are to give a presentation about romantic music and this has to be done in a group of three's and four. After doing the presentation, we have to make a booklet on the comparison of romantic music with modern music. For the presentation, my group includes myself, Ronaldo, Verena and Yohanes. So, basically what we did today was discussing on how we are going to make the presentation and the things that we have to put in.

Music Reflection - 27 January 2012

Today is the today of the singing assessment! Before we started the assessment, we were given the preparation before singing which includes: humming, pitch and rhythm. The singing assessment will go by alphabetically order from the list, and I was number three. I personally think that I need to work it a bit more because it was a jazz song, but I was quite stiff and not relaxed. Also, I need to work on the pitch of the singing. If I were to give myself a score for that, I would give myself a seven out of ten because it wasn't good enough.

Music Reflection - 20 January 2012

Today, we were continue on practicing the humming and the song. However, now we have to sing the song individually. It was quite a shame that now we have to do it alone because I was happy with singing it within a group of three and my group was good. We all had quite a lot of time to practice. We were to choose the tune for the singing later on to really match up your voice. My tune was +1, and personally it was a bit high for me but I was challenging myself to do it. We were told that the singing assessment will be on Friday next week as Monday next week is Chinese New Year. Then, we went into instrument class.

Music Reflection - 16 January 2012

Today, we were just continuing on what we did from the last two sessions. We were practicing on vocalising, humming and other stuff that will help to prepare singing. We were all put into groups of three. I was with Brian and Yohanes, and we were to practice singing the song together. Our group got a really good compliment from a teacher that we sing well together, and we were to sing in front of the class first. Afterwards, we went to instrument class.

Music Reflection - 13 January 2012

Today was the first music sessions after the Winter Holiday. We were introduced on the assessments and projects that we will do in the term and semester. Even if today was the first music sessions, we already got an assessment to do which was singing an Indonesian song that the teachers gave us. We were learning on the preparations that we should do before singing. We also had time to learn the lyrics of the song and the actual song itself. It was quite weird because the rhythm of the song is jazz. I was expecting that the song is more likely a national song than a jazz song.

Music Reflection - 28 November 2011, Monday

Today, we had to do the MDW, which is short for music developmental workbook for term 2. We weren't really supposed to be finished by today, but we have to finish this by Wednesday. I finished only one section of the workbook, and there is about 4 sections in total. We also have to include pictures of our blog into the workbook. Afterwards, some of the people who failed to get a passing score on the quiz had to redo their tests, and there were 4 people including myself. I was surprised with my new score because in my first one I got 4 correct out of 40 questions and now I got 21 out of 40. I still don't get a passing score because the passing score is 25 out of 40, but I am very happy to be able to see the improvements from my first quiz with my second one. I hope I can improve a lot more by the end of the school year!

Music Reflection - 24 November 2011, Thursday

Today, we got our results back from the quiz that we had on Monday and my score was the lowest from all because I still have no idea about major scales and all the theories like that. By seeing the result I got from the quiz, I REALLY need to learn about major scales and the other theories as well or else I will be way behind. Afterwards, we went into instrument class and I had a little 'tutoring' from Mr. John on major scales. However, I still need to learn even more to catch up with my classmates. So, I will have to search the theories of music by myself from the internet or I can ask my friends to help me a bit.
