Music Reflection - 8 April 2012

The first music session after term break, and we were given the schedule of our assessment of the term. The first assessment that we are going to do is to sing a pop western song called "Price Tag" by Jessie J. My first reaction to this was a long pause of silence because I have never heard of this song and I don't like the song at all. The reason that I reacted like this is because I never listen to today's music at all as I listen to the old times' music, like blues and rock, all the time. It was quite painful for me to listen and sing this song, but I have to bear the pain because I have to sing this for the assessment. After the singing, we learned chord progression, and afterwards we went into instrument class. In instrument class, I played a duet with Ronaldo. I had a hard time to follow through on play the song because I have never listen to the song, and the part was quite hard for me to play.

Music Reflection - 28 March 2012

Today is the day of the assessment! I was nervous of having the thought of an audience, and awkwardly the audience were our friends and that really made me more nervous. As we play, I got more nervous and embarrassed because I am most lightly the one who couldn't play the song, and all my friends are watching me. I think that the overall performance of all of us was good, but mine was terrible. I forgot some parts of the songs, and the only thing I could do was just take the embarrassment because I was the worst of all (in my opinion).

Music Reflection - 26 March 2012

Somehow, our assessment wasn't to be today, and I really forget the reason for this. However, it is postponed to two more days, even though that we don't have any music sessions on that day. I think that the reason for this was that some of us were absent today, so it got postponed because we can't perform without all of us together. So, instead of doing the assessment, we practiced the two songs again. Well, today I did better than I did last time, but I still need practice because I am not perfect at playing it, but I am capable to do some parts of the two songs.

Music Reflection - 19 March 2012

Today, we practiced Salut D'Amour and Minuet again. We all actually get to the 4th page of the Salut D'Amour piece, except for me. I was literally confused on what I am actually playing. That day, I only managed to play 2 pages of Salut D'Amour and 1 page of Minuet because the part in these pages are actually easier to play. We were told that we will do the assessment on the nest session, which is on Monday.

Music Reflection - 16 March 2012

Today was supposed to be the day of the assessment where we all play the classical songs together, but it got postponed to the next session of music class. I think that the reason why it got postponed is because that most of us weren't really prepared and ready to play for a couple of reasons; 1. We were too lazy to do it now, or 2. We all couldn't play the two songs in synchronize yet.

Music Reflection - 12 March 2012

Today, we practiced the two classical songs again with everybody in the class. We were trying to play the Salut D'Amour song for two pages and the Minuet song for one page only. It was quite hard for me to get the grasp of playing Salut D'Amour and Minuet at the same time because the two have different rhythms, and the type of the two songs are also different. Salut D'Amour is more like a sad song, whilst Minuet is more like a happy and jolly song that we all can enjoy.

Music Reflection - 9 March 2012

Basically, we mixed the theory class with the instruments class to practice the two songs again. It was quite harder for me because I forgot the music sheet at home and I also forgot how the songs go. So, it took me sometime to catch with the others. We practice the songs individually first, and then all together.
